ScoJo wrote:Many of you may find this interesting: worldhappiness.report/ Article on the report: nytimes.com/2016/03/17/worl… Denmark was found to be the happiest country. The last paragraph of the article read: '“The libertarian argument that economic freedom should be championed above all other values decisively fails the happiness test: There is no evidence that economic freedom per se is a major direct contributor of human well-being above and beyond what it might contribute towards per-capita income and employment,” Dr. Sachs wrote. “Individual freedom matters for happiness, but among many objectives and values, not to the exclusion of those other considerations.”'Strange... As far as I know, the Libs advocate for both, and economic freedom (IE: property rights) are often hinged to personal freedom, endemically. As well, the quote seems to admit/imply some benefits of economic freedom ('per-capita income and employment') that are contributors... And.... "From 2005 to 2015, Greece saw the largest drop in happiness of any country, a reflection of the economic crisis that began there in 2007." Greece has all kindsa public benefits... that it can't afford to make the Germans pay for any more. So there's that end of how these things play out when you charge up the ole' government credit cards to gain personal largess. |

Todd Graham wrote:Typical campus fascism: "Last year, for example, the University of Colorado Boulder proudly launched an on-campus spying campaign that encourages students to report incidents of “bias” to government officials at the school. The extensive online “bias” reporting mechanism solicits nearly two dozen pieces of information about perpetrators of “bias” including their names, addresses, phone numbers and student ID numbers. The point of the “Bias Incident Reporting” scheme is to make the taxpayer-funded University of Colorado campus free of “demeaning and hurtful statements.” To advertise the taxpayer-funded scheme, University of Colorado officials paid for posters featuring demeaning and hurtful statements that denigrate various cultures and ethnic groups. “Go back to Africa, you don’t belong here,” one school-funded poster reads. “Your mom must be the janitor ’cause that’s the only job for dirty Mexicans,” declares another. Except for the “Bias Motivated Incident” poster campaign, there appears to be no evidence that anyone on the CU Boulder campus has ever said these things."I remember that. There was some nasty KKK shit written in one of the campus bathrooms a few weeks ago that made some light news, but it's 20 year old frat boys. Most likely with a general studies major. haha |

Trump will build us a nice new wall to climb so I vote him |

Support trump? Are you kidding me? |

Tim Lutz wrote: Good to know you support a fascist, racist dictator. Have you raised your Right hand to do Trump pledge yet? The once classy GOP of Reagan has turned into a reality TV series of dick measuring and dumb and dumber jokes. You're voting for Hillary Clinton? |

Tim Lutz wrote:Nope, as I said upthread, although I think libertarianism is unrealistic in a number of ways, I voted Gary Johnson in the last election and likely will again if Bernie doesn't get the nomination (aka lot more $$$$$$$$$$$$)I know he was a successful third party candidate but wow, I always took you for a liberal. |

Despite you guys burning me at the stake, I would vote for Trump if my choices are Clinton or Trump. |

While I disagree with your decision to vote for trump, Bill, I have to say its a better decision that Gary Johnson. |

Tim Lutz wrote:I am also suspicious of legalization of all drugs. I should have said full scale marijuana legalization. The funny thing, to me anyway, is the stat that emergency room visits involving Marijuana went up a bunch in CO. That shows that more people are smoking pot than before. That statistic could be used to stop any legislation. Edit: I thought about the whole Trump's helping Hillary thing but... Hillary Clinton is in with Wall Street and big business. She wins big business and Wall Street wins. Ted Cruz wins big business and Wall Street wins. Republic controlled Congress too, they really win. Donald Trump comes along so now what? |
