Looking to get on some early season trad in NH. Anyone know of any crags with quality climbing in the 5.8 - mid 10s range that are likely to be dry now?
I had a good day climbing at the South Buttress last week. I'd definitely say that there was a lot more wet rock than dry rock out there, but we were able to find some routes that were entirely dry (Hotter than Hell > Inferno; Ladyslipper). The central part of the cliff was soaked and the slabs still have a bit of snow hanging on up high.
You need to be aware of ice sheets up high that you may not be able to see that become extremely dangerous when things warm up. Ice on a thin layer of water high above you = not good.
