Trying to plan a trip to the city 3/24 - 3/28

I'm familiar with the area. I was just hoping to get some beta on current conditions out there. Snow pack, road conditions, how warm are the south facing routes etc...

If anyone has been there recently or is a local, some basic beta would be super sweet.

Thanks

Best source for current conditions is the city of rocks Facebook page.

Climbed at Castle on the weekend of 20/21 Feb. Sunny, no wind. No snow on the ground. Perfect.

Heard the road through the City was still snowy up high (Emery Pass).

Probably pretty good to go in a couple of weeks. This time of year, if its not sunny and windy, can be chilly. Also, can still snow.

Could be gettin' snow now out of this current storm. Should be.

If its sunny, low 50's and no wind, south facing routes are superb.

On Wednesday, 3/9, the road over Emery Pass to Oakley was impassable (and that was in the vehicle below.) It's not that the snow was so deep but the 4" of mud below that...

Thanks everyone! Sounds like a go to me, never been there this early in the season. Really appreciate it. Spring break for life!

Climb hard climb safe out there.

As posted to their Facebook page today:

CURRENT CONDITIONS: mostly sunny and high winds in excess of 18 mph. High today of 43°. Expecting partly cloudy skies on Friday through Sunday with temperatures increasing from 45° to 60° as a high on Sunday. Road conditions are extremely muddy and rutted, and probably not passable to 2-wheel drive vehicles. We are monitoring conditions, and you can get the latest by calling the Park at 208-824-5901 between 8 AM and 4:30 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
