#1 and #2 BD stoppers. Usually reserved for aid, those two pieces have been my mental duct tape more than a handful of times. |

This thing
My wife bought it for me and I thought it seemed kind of pointless. I can use cheap cordage for a prusik. But this thing works so much better. It slides and stops like butter. I didn't know I wanted it until I had it. |

Huge +1 to the hollow block. |

What length in the Hollow Block do you recommend? |

Andy, it is used for a rap backup.. The material it is made from is good for high heat (rubbing on rope as you rap) compared to a skinny sling. |
|
+1 for the hollowblock, you can also extend a piece with it in a pinch, i believe it is rated for like 16kn or something. |

ahhh, I see now. I have a 12'' piece of cord I got for $1 I use for this purpose, but I guess since people are raving about it, I'll give it a try! |

The hollow block is also great on icy ropes (crevasse rescue) and seems to grip a little better as it is more flat than round. Go with the shorter length if you aren't extending raps. |

CAMP Piranha knife, weighs nothing and stays clipped to my harness along with a prusik on anything > 1 pitch. Ya know, in case of the Vertical Limit scenario. Careful though, this little guy is sharp like you wouldn't believe! |
