#1 and #2 BD stoppers. Usually reserved for aid, those two pieces have been my mental duct tape more than a handful of times.

Will it hold a fall? Probably not.

Is it better than nothing? Yes, yes it is.

This thing

My wife bought it for me and I thought it seemed kind of pointless. I can use cheap cordage for a prusik. But this thing works so much better. It slides and stops like butter. I didn't know I wanted it until I had it.

Huge +1 to the hollow block.

What length in the Hollow Block do you recommend?

I got the 19in, but I also extend my rappels.

Andy, it is used for a rap backup.. The material it is made from is good for high heat (rubbing on rope as you rap) compared to a skinny sling.

+1 for the hollowblock, you can also extend a piece with it in a pinch, i believe it is rated for like 16kn or something.

ahhh, I see now. I have a 12'' piece of cord I got for $1 I use for this purpose, but I guess since people are raving about it, I'll give it a try!

Offset nuts. They account for most of the nuts on my rack [insert joke].

A fat HMS biner with the knowledge of how to properly use a munter and tie a munter mule.

Prussik/Hollow Block.

The hollow block is also great on icy ropes (crevasse rescue) and seems to grip a little better as it is more flat than round. Go with the shorter length if you aren't extending raps.

CAMP Piranha knife, weighs nothing and stays clipped to my harness along with a prusik on anything > 1 pitch. Ya know, in case of the Vertical Limit scenario. Careful though, this little guy is sharp like you wouldn't believe!

Climbing Tech's RollNLock--ascender & pulley.

I use this with a Microscender for TR Solo--for two different devices, neither with sharp teeth (for this purpose, I like it better than the ropeman2 or microtrax).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
