Hey alpinejason, how does the Grivel G20 compare to the Dart? |

Gunkiemike, post them! |

But you only need one of those pairs, Zac. The pair in the middle. |

Here's my stuff. Additions for the coming season: jsnare and 21cm laser speed. |

They are light and fit my boots well. I'm almost exclusively G20/G22 combo. Downside is they don't travel as conveniently. Most other crampons you can compact them a bit by sliding the forefoot down the connector bar, with the G20/22 you can't. |

Do you like the G20s more than the Rambos? I would like to try out either the G20s and Rambo 4s to compare them to the Bladerunners. Got All Mountains and those Petzl screws hanging around my house too. |

Bill if you want a monopoint, I think you might enjoy the Rambo4 more than the G20. I'm only 185 lbs and if I'm climbing pure ice, I feel like I'm on roller skates with any typical monopoint crampon (Dart, Stinger, G20). Just too skinny, not enough purchase, subtle flex in the semi-rigid frame, etc. The major exception to that is the Rambo 4. Those things are built like a brick shithouse. IMO, it's the best pure ice (and moderate mixed) cragging crampon on the market today. No comparison. Absolute rigidity and precision. (I still prefer dual points though). |

Zac how do you like those trango raptors? Thinking about getting a pair.. |

Gavin Walton wrote:Zac how do you like those trango raptors? Thinking about getting a pair..Definitely one of my favorite tools. Ive got the 2014 version which has a slightly less aggressive pick angle than the v1's. When lined up with nomics they are still slightly more agressive but seem to have a much more natural feeling swing. Of course that varies with the individual but really can't speak highly enough about them. That being said, If i could only have two sets of tools, it would be the grivel quantum race and the quantum techs... if I could only have one set of tool, it saddens me to say it would probably be the nomics. |

Ditch everything and get the X-Dreams. Or the new Grivel Tech Machines. |

Nomics and X Dreams both have huge followings for a reason, though. The Raptors are effectively shorter than Nomics when you have the mixed picks on them -- and I think there's more flex. Those are the gripes I've heard about the Raptors. (That and the first generation handles were too small. Second generation handles are bigger/better.) |
