Multipitch sport routes?
|
This may be a stupid question, but does anyone know of multipitch sport routes in So Cal? |
|
See El Cajon Mt, Corte Madera and Eagle Peak. All in San Diego. |

"Or are all multipitch routes for trad only?" |

Brian morin wrote:...are all multipitch routes for trad only? No, we have climbed several multi-pitch sport routes. We have had a kind of natural progression in climbing skill/ability. We started off on short sport routes. Then longer and multi-pitch sport routes. Then we bought a few trad pieces just to learn and experiment. We top roped a few places on trad anchors. Then we started doing some mixed routes, ascent on trad protection with fixed anchors. We are now gearing up to do full trad multi-pitch. If you haven't found it yet, MP has a route finder filter that will assist you in finding multi-pitch sport routes. Find the area you are interested in then look for this box: Best Route For You Click on the "Best Routes for You in this Area" link and the next box will appear. Check the sport box and select "Pitches" at least 2. Route Finder Now you have a tick list. |

Tad off topic/location. But El Potrero Chico is probably one of the if not the best multi-pitch sport route location in the America's. Hundreds of routes, anywhere from 100' - 2000' |

Lou Cerutti wrote:See El Cajon Mt, Corte Madera and Eagle Peak. All in San Diego.Yep. This. There's also Descanso Wall just east of El Cajon and close to Corte Madera. It's not multipitch though. Just long single picthes. Some routes are pretty good & hard. But, beware of El Cajon mtn. Even if it's cooler outside, the sun hits it early and can absolutely cook the rock. A few buddies have climbed up there on average temperature days, mid 60's to mid 70's and have said their shoes were a wreck afer climbing due to the rock temp. It's a cold temperature place to go. |
