3D printed Toy Cam

3D printed this number one Cam over the weekend since I was off the rock due to rain and a kink in the neck. PLA with a total print time of ~3 hours scavenged some copper wire for axles and a spring from Lowes, couple paper clips and bam a number one cam ready to hold a truck made by matchbox. Needs the end plates and some slightly thicker axles and it would improve performance significantly. She works but is a little wonky.

Very cool. I'd take a few... they'd make sweet x-mas tree ornaments!

ironically I was thinking they would make sweet xmas tree ornaments too or maybe this is what you keep your iphone or guide book tethered to the cliff with?

I'd love to see this thing strength tested.

The rating would be measured in fN.

haha right now it holds about 48fN if I rebuild the axles out of not hand bent copper wire it would probably work a little better. Need to find some better springs too, will probably try and rebuild it next chance I get, just gotta make that trip to the hardware store. Could probably pull test this to death but I don't have access to an instron(pull test machine) so it would have to be a natural crack with... maybe my body weight or some big rocks? I guess just test the static load rating?? ideas??

Photo looks like a large-mouth bass hanging from the cam.

A REALLY large mouth bass.

Kyle, this is awesome, I think it is time to test it with something heavier.
