fast exit and drive to Red Rocks too from there, less traffic than from north end of strip and going out West Charlston

Palace Station was always my place of choice in the past. It's on the west side of the interstate so you never have to go near the strip if you don't want to.

Absolutely not the Riviera! I would look close at Red Rock and the Silverton.

I second the Silverton Casino which is pretty nice, and has reasonable rates, and is close to Red Rock. Looks like their rates on the average are $59-$69/night , plus resort fees, and taxes. Red Rock Resort/casino is pricey at around $125/night but has really nice rooms, and a mere 5-10 minute drive to RR. Bonnie Springs Motel is practically in Red Rock, with decent rates; it's rustic, and has character in a strange sort of way- night be okay for some, or considered a dump to others.

Off the I-15 is the M Resort/casino which is really nice, and doesn't charge resort fees- they probably offer good rates too, and also, the hidden gem Southpoint Casino for reasonable room rates, but they can sell out fast, if there's something big going on in town, like the NFR, and PBR- the cowboys LOVE to stay there.

Ha! At least the Riv' is cheap, and perfect if you love dim, dirty rooms with seedy folks living next door. It's seen better days ,,,; like 15 years ago before they 'remodeled' the place and ruined it's classic flavor. It's a short walk to the Convention center if you have business in town at same time.

2nd the Palace Station, you can get rooms for as low as $40 bucks a night and we've rolled our coolers thru the lobby with our packs for a weeks stay and no one batted an eye....

re: Palace Station- locals consider it fairly ghetto, but the room rates are cheap. Just don't walk around the neighborhood, and you should be fine. : )

FYI- The Orleans is less depressing than the Gold Coast as far as their clientele you'll be exposed to while walking through the casino.. The Suncoast is close to Red Rock, as another poster mentioned, but has a boring atmosphere.

Hope we're not throwing you too many choices now. ; /

Edit: nevermind the M Resort- their rates are sky high now- guess they've gotten more popular now.

Here's the South Point's rates- Great deal! Plus it's the only casino in town that's DEBT FREE! Seriously!

get on cheap tickets, kayak.com, or some other surf engine and price check. the rates are ridiculously cheap right now and you can stay pretty much anywhere. it all boils down to how close you want. i know there's a casino right on Charleston heading out to RR but i can't remember the name. just check street addresses.

This past week I stayed at the imperial palace while climbing in Red Rock. It was clean, cheap, quiet, on the strip and a steal at $28 a night($22 if you singe up of a players club card). Ask for a remodeled room and book on-line or walk in, they charge an extra $10 a night if you book by phone.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
