For me, it's the excitement that there might be something really cool up there, like a pot of gold or a burrito... yeah, it's that hope that I might be only 90 vertical feet from a burrito that keeps me going.

the rock texture, crystals, formations, crack shapes; the whole geology of it is fascinating.

I like the choices that are made, none of them trivial, even on the "trivial climbs". I like the movement and the puzzle of a good climb.

Exactly.

Unlocking the solution, be it a sequence on a boulder problem or the correct route on a long multi-pitch. The anxiety of the uncertainty on the way. The satisfaction of the small victory that each success represents.
