Mostly Volcanic Rock, world class quality of bouldering On the highway going from Toluca to Mexico or Mexico to Toluca take the exit to Salazar, there will be a sign of it where The Valley with the big wings monument is. Once in Salazar, you must follow the road that got you there all the way up the mountain behind Salazar called “cerro de la campana” where the first sector of boulders “primer piso” begins.
Voluntad Libre is home to only a few routes and receives very little traffic due to the huge amount of vegetation. Take the left-hand trail once the approach trail reaches the base of the wall. This is just left of Las Gamuzas area by about a 100-150 feet.
Las Gamuzas is a very wide pillar (~100 feet) that is home to possibly the easiest route to access the Upper Tier (“Las Gamuzas”) but also has a handful of challenging routes. This is the first area you’ll encounter when the main access trail reaches the base of the wall. “Soñar con Ser Mas” is the first route you’ll encounter.
