Featured Trad, Sport, Bouldering, and other popular climbing routes and climbing areas Stanley, Kentucky.
I've heard rumors of the Posey Crag in this general area. Not much is found online. The only website with a bit of documentation says it is not worth the drive. YMMV If you are in the area, please document it! I'm hoping that listing this area will make Indiana a little less barren. On University of Southern Indiana's campus. Located to the left of the baseball fields off of Bennett Lane.
Small area with a handful of short and easy boulder problems. The hillside outcropping behind the 3 prominent, but small boulders in a row, has several variations. The best boulder problem is Eye'd Pink and Puffy. Park out of the way of the gate, walk the gravel/dam road, then cross the metal crosswalk. Walk up the hill from the lake. When you get to the exposed rocks, go right to the boulders.
Just outside the city of Providence, in Webster County. The city lake has a handful of short boulder problems. Typical WKY sandstone, which means you will need to bring your brush kits. A nice addition to the climbing areas in WKY. The lake is also a great place to fish and paddle around in a canoe or kayak. From HWY 293, turn on Providence City Lake Rd. Drive all the way to the end of the black top road. Park out of the way of the gate and the trail. Walk the gravel road/dam trail, and cross steel grated walk way. Go up the hill (no marked path) to the boulders. Continue westward on the high hill to other the boulders (Western Hillside).
