Description

Towering directly above the Village of Oak Creek on the west side of the highway, the south face of Castle Rock is a sun-baked wall of Coconino sandstone with an assortment of traditional routes.

Getting There

From just below the main saddle on the approach trail, cut left on a good climber's trail and follow it clockwise around the spire and naturally up to the middle of the south face. There may or may not be a bit of dicey scrambling required to access some of the routes.
