Access Issue: Seasonal Big Horn Sheep Closure Details

The USFS prohibits travel more then 400' off of established trails due to Bighorn Sheep lambing season from Jan 1 - Apr 30 every year. The cliff and descent along the western side of the Mohawk stay within 400' of the trail (barely). Stick to the the cliff edge (least bushwhacking anyway) to avoid violating the closure.

Description

On the far left side of the Ranger Danger cliff band is a detached 210' block; "Billy Goat Bluff". It is viewable from the west side of town. Routes face West and North (so far).

Getting There

Located 3 miles up the Finger Rock trail, just before the turn-off to the Finger, and only a few hundred feet above the trail.

Descent

Rap down Billy Goat, 2 ropes required or do a single rope rap off the large chockstone at the top of the technical difficulties of Ram's Way. This requires a 20' or so secure fourth/ low 5th down-climb to get off the summit block. A short rap would be possible to setup if uncomfortable with the down climb.
