A crack climbers paradise on columnar basalt with outstanding views of Cerro Tronador. There are around 100 cracks to climb here. Most routes have 2 rap rings at the top. There is a pdf of the routes floating around, ask locals for a copy. Otherwise just show up and get on whatever looks fun. The left side has easier routes from 5.6-5.10. The Central taller columns have longer and overall harder routes from 5.10-5.12. The south side Coihual is shorter but has a variety of ratings.
Camping is located in Pampa Linda.
Get the PDF and read the detailed instructions. Summary: Drive south of Bariloche two hours towards Pampa Linda at the base of Cerro Tronador. There is a limited time for entry and exit on the one way road. Time it wrong and you will be stuck waiting to get in or out. It's also located in a National Park that charges entry fees. Park in the designated area only. Hike the trail to the crag.
You MUST register with the park to climb there, the rangers check sometimes.

-the trails seemed to have changed from pdf maps/descriptions. Im pretty sure we followed the pdf directions well and ended up schwhacking up an old trail. I think the approach trail on the mp map is in the right spot, gaia definitely had the accurate approach trails. The trail heads into the woods just before a little bridge that is further along the road and is well traveled and signed. It looked like there was a spot to park right at that bridge, or gaia suggested a parking lot just past it
-the east columns seemed to be closed for restoration. I think we climbed route 30 in the pdf, and everything left of that was signed as closed
-the wall gets sun most of the day and the base gets sparse shade Mar 23, 2025
