Jeti Oguz - The 4th Bridge

International > Asia > Kyrgyzstan

Description

This valley is quite busy for local and international tourism alike. There are lots of camping spots, yurt camps, and trails to explore. Climbing in the morning is best as it tends to get light rain in the early afternoon. Sometimes you can still climb afterwards. Can be climbed between April and early October (weather pending). This area climbing area was built in coordination with local authorities as the Jeti Oguz Valley is a special place for Kyrgyz people, please treat it with respect (i.e. clean up trash, be polite, and don't leave anything behind). Odds are you'll get photographed and asked questions by locals because its a unique sport in such an area. People tend to be polite and friendly about it.

More routes are in the works for the near future including a multi pitch :)

Getting There

Drive past the Jeti Oguz village off of the south highway around Issuk Kul and past the Seven Bulls rock formation. There is a small road leading deeper into the mountains just past the mosque off of the main road that leads to a valley called Kok Jaik. There are multiple bridges that weave back and forth over the river. The climbing area is just after the 4th bridge. Easy to park right in front of the area or before the 4th bridge where there is a small trail leading to a small cave.
