Description
South facing moderate route(s) that seem quite popular in the Italian guidebooks. With easy access and even more easy descent, this particular route is well climbed. The rock in this area is compact gray/black - dolomites at its finest. New shinny bolts, fairly new threads and orignal pitons from 1969. From the top, scramble down and east to gain the main trail that leads along the base of the south face of Alvera and back to the hut and chairlift.
Getting There
From the top of Passo Giau, descent to the south - towards Selva di Cadore - several km until a pull out on the right for a large Refugio and chairlift. Cost in 2024 was 20 euros round trip. From the top of the Chairlift (Refugio Alvera?), take the lower trial that heads west and slightly downhill. After rounding a buttress of lower rock, head directly up to base of route. A red thread and a silver plaque with the name of the route, first ascent by whom and when. Shinny bolts above.
