HUMAN WASTE Human waste is one of the major issues plaguing Red Rocks. The Las Vegas Climbers Liaison Council and the AAC provides free "wag bags" in several locations (Black Velvet, First Pullout, Kraft Mtn/Bouldering, The Gallery, and The Black Corridor). These bags are designed so that you can pack your waste out - consider bringing one to be part of your kit (just like your rope and shoes and lunch) no matter where you go. Once used, please dispose of them properly (do not throw them in the toilets at the parking area).
Description
The Left Side has the majority of the routes in the Rift Corridor, and also contains the routes outside the entrance to the corridor. The routes on the narrowest part of the corridor benefit from some chimney technique, but it's not required. Some of the best routes at the crag are on the end of the inside of the corridor. They climb some neat features and a beautiful, black varnish patch (let's not cover it in bright white chalk please [hey, I can ask right?]).
Getting There
From First Pullout parking lot walk straight down the main dirt path to all the rock. Continue slightly right and down into the gully below Circus Wall. Go right in the gully staying on the right side until near the end. Pass through an opening in the scrub oak bushes to the left side of the gully (below the route, Flying Whale). Hug the left side wall for about 20 feet to the entrance to the Rift Corridor.
