HUMAN WASTE Human waste is one of the major issues plaguing Red Rocks. The Las Vegas Climbers Liaison Council and the AAC provides free "wag bags" in several locations (Black Velvet, First Pullout, Kraft Mtn/Bouldering, The Gallery, and The Black Corridor). These bags are designed so that you can pack your waste out - consider bringing one to be part of your kit (just like your rope and shoes and lunch) no matter where you go. Once used, please dispose of them properly (do not throw them in the toilets at the parking area).
Description
The Rift Corridor contains all the routes in the corridor section of The Rift Area, plus those just outside the entrance to the corridor. The left side contains most of the routes, with four more routes on the right side. The corridor itself is really narrow for about 30', then opens up near its end with routes on both sides.
Special attention should be paid to rockfall as these new routes clean up. The narrow corridor funnels any rockfall right onto belayers. Don't let gawking tourists hang out below you either.
Getting There
From First Pullout parking lot walk straight down the main dirt path to all the rock. Continue slightly right and down into the gully below Circus Wall. Go right in the gully staying on the right side until near the end. Pass through an opening in the scrub oak bushes to the left side of the gully (below the route, Flying Whale). Hug the left side wall for about 20 feet to the entrance to the Rift Corridor.
