Description
Andicuri Beach is located on the east coast of Aruba, between Shark Bay and Blackstone Beach (coordinates of 12.537446, -69.955824). There is potential for bouldering throughout this area, though you'll likely be drawn to the overhang on the right wall by the shore. On the left shore, there are a few small boulders that go out into the sea with a space between the cliff wall and some larger boulders heading out to the sea. Watch the tide here, it can come in fast.
The rock is sharp with some sand on it, with many different types of hold possibilities -- some quite large. Some wasps were nesting in a few pits (tiny holes) in the limestone.
Getting There
Drive past the Aruba Ostroch Farm and instead of turning left to go to the Bushiribana Ruins, keep going straight and drive to the Natural Bridge Aruba on the north-facing coast of the island. (It is not too far from Ayo Rocks). We made the trip in a standard rental car, tho we drove slowly and carefully as the road is sand and bumpy. It is very doable in such a car, tho an SUV would be ideal. ATVs are also on this road (tours).
Drive to the Natural Bridge Aruba and park. If you look south-east you can see Andicuri Beach. There was a large X made of wood in the middle when we were there. Lock your car and take your valuables with you. To the top of the parking lot is a tall wooden monument-looking thing. Behind that and TO THE LEFT (parallel to the ocean) is a path that heads south-east past an area where you can go down to part of the collapsed natural bridge. Don't go down there. Instead, stay up and follow the path past the low area where the natural bridge was collapsed, and take your first left. You'll go across an open area (there may be ATVs). Walk past the Shark Bay (a dirty, small beach) where you'll go down a little and then back up. Keep going. There are small stones that cut across another open area (b/w Shark Bay and Andicuri) and you'll see a path heading down the rocks to the beach.
You can also get there by starting at the same monument-looking thing and heading uphill (perpendicular to the ocean) to connect to the Noordkaap Trail and following that up over the hills and then down to Andicurri Beach. That is more strenuous, but offers great views. In all cases, Google Maps is your friend.
Bring comfortable shoes for the walk, lots of water, sunscreen, towels, etc.
