Description
Town Pond is a small, secluded bouldering area located near the popular hiking trails of Head's Pond in Hooksett, NH. The approaches are not short, but the quality, size, and setting of the area's main boulder make it worth the trouble. This centerpiece is a granite erratic that stands some 16' tall. Most of this boulder's faces are rather blank, but striking aretes and angle changes make up for the lack of holds and tend to keep lines pure. For only being a mile from civilization, it feels rather remote.
The boulder sits on the shoreline of a small pond. There is an unfortunate amount of graffiti on the boulders in the area, but at the very least, it's quite positive. "Don't do drugs" and "I'm glad that you exist" are some notable vandalizations. Also nearby are a swing set and a fire pit, which makes the area rather enjoyable even if you're not climbing. If you top out any lines, you'll discover that there's a rather cozy seating area hidden away over the lip.

Getting There
Park at the circle at the end of Campus Drive in Hooksett, NH. There is no signage limiting hours of access, but please be respectful of nearby homes during the later hours of the day.
Once parked, follow the ATV trail straight ahead for 0.5 miles. An obvious landmark is a 14' tall, egg-shaped boulder, which will appear to the left of the trail about 0.3 miles in. At the end of this 0.5 mile leg, the trail will branch. Don't go straight ahead here, but instead take the sharp curve to the right. Follow this trail without turning for just over 0.6 miles. At this point, you'll be able to see the pond as you approach. Shortly after this, the trail will branch off to the left and lead you down to the shoreline, where the boulder lies.
