Yosemite National Park has yearly closures for Peregrine Falcon Protection March 1- July 15. Always check the NPS website at nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/… for the most current details and park alerts, and to learn more about the peregrine falcon, and how closures help it survive. This page also shares closures and warnings due to current fires, smoke, etc.
Description
Several trailside boulders in the flat meadows, with many more tucked away on the hillside just waiting to be climbed. Generally older, decomposing granite, covered in moss and lichen, many massive features that are smooth and featureless, and a few rare gems with good quality stone. Recent fires and subsequent freeze and thaw have cleaned some boulders but also downed tons of trees making the bushwack to explore this dense area of rock a fair bit harder. Tread carefully, be considerate of private property, stay on designated trails when possible, but also be curious... there's so much here.
Getting There
The Swinging Bridge trailhead is at the end of a dirt road across the bridge that crosses Chilnualna Creek after the falls trailhead. Bear left after crossing the bridge and you'll see the trail sign. The majority of the easier to access boulders are in the large meadow to the left after descending from the parking area. Continue hiking along the trail with your eyes left to see other climbable boulders.
