Description
Lutz was established in the late 80s and early 90s, primarily as a bouldering destination, but there were a few trad lines done back then. Lutz has some of the hardest and best actual cave bouldering in NWA. It was never established as a sport climbing area out of fear of access being closed. Today you will find a combination of bouldering, sport, and trad climbs in this area.
Getting There
Navigate to 303 Preston Lane, Springdale, AR. This will get you there. This is an old house that was removed. Stop and park on either side of the road when you get to where the drive ends. This will be the temporary parking until an established parking area is figured out.
The Hike:
Start hiking up the hill to the east until it becomes solid wood and look for a break in the barbed wire fence. There is no gate, just an opening in the barbed wire. There is an old road that follows it south (right). You will start seeing Boulders up the hill and continue past the boulders until you see a steep overhanging cave just off the trail about 25 feet to the left. This is the Lutz cave area with the historic bouldering.
