Description
An interesting and varied cliff line that is close to the road and faces generally Westward. The cliff line is somewhat broken and varies in height from 8-35 feet in height, with the climbers left half containing the tallest sections of rock. The rock type is Potsdam sandstone. Once privately owned but quietly accessible, it is now owned and managed by the Indian River Lakes Conservancy. A new trail has been created on the preserve, and is currently named "The Black Lake Preserve". The area was originally coined "Hutch Hollow" by climbers Nick Cavallo and Teddy Johnson, and will be referred to that way throughout the page.
Getting There
Take Black Lake Road along Black Lake. On the inland side of the road (East) you should find a small parking lot with signage for the Ferrone Woods Preserve. A trail newly exists on this preserve. 200 feet into the woods, directly east of the parking lot, you will find the majority of the cliff line. From here, choose your own adventure!
