Upper Tier

Vermont > 2. Central Vermont > Deer Leap

Description

The upper tier is a small cliff bellow and west of the base of the main Deer Leap cliff.

Getting There

Finding the base can be a bit tricky as herd paths criscross the forest in every direction. Follow the approach from the parking lot and bear left at the upper fork towar dthe main cliff (right is Guide's wall and Darkside, left to the main cliff and Upper Tier). The trail will fork with one path to the right going toward the "cave", but take the left fork up a steep root-covered hillside. After surmounting the rooted hillside work your way left between ledges and overhangings to scramble to the base as far west as you can go before the trail turns up to the main cliff base.
