Description
The End of the Line Wall is the last inspiring limestone wall you’ll encounter on The Ridge and it finishes off with a fine collection of problems on a gorgeous set of walls. Soon after this area, the basalt cap of Anderson Mesa takes over as you travel East. This wall has a small collection of stellar problems on beautifully colored and steep, streaked stone. There are close to a dozen established lines. I believe I spent time here beginning in 2008 or so and it didn’t come easy. Same time period as the Workshop Wall I think.
This area would pair well with the Stone Cove or The Workshop Wall as the grades are consistent and The End of the Line has perhaps the shortest approach of any area at The Ridge, though there are no trails. The landings here are mostly perfect. Like most areas at The Ridge, a short rope might prove useful to clean off the top outs. Brooms and pole brushes always prove useful. Hopefully more visits will help keep the wall cleaner, though it still looks pretty clean.
Getting There
Park at the second pullout west of Marshall Lake Road, on the south side of Lake Mary Road. Cross the highway and hike uphill till you hit the limestone band. The Lowe Ball Wall is probably the first wall you’ll encounter. This is a steep, tall wall with only one really good looking line. Easily identifiable by the blue Lowe Ball I inadvertently left behind while scoping lines.
Hike a couple walls east to find the End of the Line Wall, which is the only other good wall around.
