Description Suggest change

Ramshorn Canyon holds a collection of generally excellent limestone climbing with the crown jewel being the Ramshorn Main Wall. Currently, documented routes exist in the campground and on the main wall. Please see those sub areas for approach beta and route descriptions.

Getting There Suggest change

From Arco: Head north on Hwy 93 about 7 miles until Moore. Look right for the mouth of a large canyon, this is Ramshorn Canyon but you'll not be able to see the walls from the hwy. Take the y-fork in Moore (Look for signs for King Mt. Ranch). After two miles turn right on 3400 N, then swing north at an obvious fork. Follow graded dirt (past an electrical substation), to an easy-to-miss right hand track about 1.5 miles from the last fork. Take a right and follow this dirt road to the campground or as far as your vehicle will make it.

From the north: Take a left on a paved road marked 3700 N in Darlington and head down for about 3 miles to a T junction. Continue straight through the gate in front of you onto an OK dirt road (be sure to leave the gates as you found them, open or closed). Continue down this road through a second gate. At about 2 miles from the gate you'll encounter a washout in the road; here there is a new path to the right cut through the sage that joins an alternate dirt road just to the right. Take a left on this road and continue into the canyon on forest road 276.

There was a previous washout that required aggressive driving but this was fixed by someone (thank you!) in the Spring of 2024 and you can now make it to the parking lot in a 2WD vehicle with moderate clearance. A vehicle like a Subaru Outback would not have any issues. The sagebrush gets a little tight as you reach the end of the road so a rig like a camper van might earn some "Idaho Pinstripes".
