Description
Found just off HWY 89 is this undeveloped area. Most of the rock faces east so morning sun is a guarantee, it slips into the shadows around 3pm in the late spring and early summer. This area is where outlaws would hide out from the law. Butch Cassidy's child hood home is down the highway about 20 miles. The Sevier river is flowing just on the other side of the highway and is one of the few rivers in North America to flow south to north. When you get the lull in traffic it is a really nice spot to hang. The Utah Geology website has the rock type listed as Plutonic Rock> Granitoid > Monozite. It reminds me of a soft granite of sorts. Flakey in a most spots but some of the faces are smooth and not flakey at all. You just have to hunt it out.
