Description

This area is a single large boulder with one prominent line and potential for a few more hard lines. The boulder is highly polished granite, with an excellent landing and an easy approach. It sits nested in the shade for most of the day, so it’s great for warm days. poison oak grows in close during the summer months though, so be aware of that.

Getting There

Drive east down CA SR-178 until you get to Live Oak Picnic Site and turn around and head west to enter the parking lot safely, as the parking lot for Camp Convict sits on a blind turn for the eastbound lane. Parking lot location: 35.477305, -118.75204. From the parking, take the hiking trail down stream approximately 300 feet. The boulder is the only large boulder in the trees to the left.
