Description
The city of Ironton approved access in late December of 2022 and final sign off was received March 27th, 2023 with the help of Shepherd Mountain Bike Park and Eastern Missouri Climbers Association. The land is currently owned by the City but is mostly surrounded by private access so please be respectful.
There are still plenty of boulder problems to go up so please feel free to put something up! Please do so responsibly. THE SHORT MINING TRAILS ARE OFF LIMITS DUE TO OBVIOUS LOOSE ROCK.
if you have any climbing questions please reach out to: easternmissouriclimbingassoc@gmail.com
Shepherd Mountain Climbers Rules & Responsibility Code
All ticket holders for the shuttles are required to complete the release of liability form. Any person under the age of 18 must have a parent/legal guardian present to sign a mountain bike release of liability form.
All users age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian at all times while utilizing the park.
There are associated risks to your gear and yourself when using the shuttles and trails. SMBP is not responsible for injury or damage. You assume ALL the risk.
The shuttles and bike park may close at any time for inclement weather. Seek shelter during lightning storms and other bad weather.
If traveling to the mountain peak, please take the shuttle road or another multi-directional trail, such as Coolio’s Climb
Bikers ALWAYS have the right-of-way
Hiking is not permitted on the downhill only mountain bike trails, although climbers may hike in the woods along the trails to reach a bouldering problem
Never block trails with crash-pads or gear
Use the proper gear: bouldering is not permitted without the use of crash-pads
Leave no trace: reduce your environmental impact by climbing with clean shoes, chalking, and avoiding smothering plant life with crash-pads
Use the buddy system: we ask all climbers to come with at least one companion to ensure safety
