Getting There
From the Lognan lift station in the Grand Montet Ski area walk up and left towards the glacier via the 4 wheel drive road or take the Herse chair lift to the top and ski down and left around the Grand Montet Ridge, staying as high as you can. You will be funneled towards the edge of the glacial ravine. The summer trail to Argentiere glacier comes along here and there comes a point where you pass a visible tunnel in the mountain side, some sort of utility tunnel. Just before the tunnel there is a depression in the landscape that heads uphill towards the glacier.
Here my memory becomes hazy. I haven't skinned up from this point in 3 years. However I have skied it recently coming from the grand montet ridge and can say that if there's no skin track to follow that there is a safe entrance possibility by heading uphill via a prominent depression in the landscape that forms the end of the ski run. There should be wands periodically demarkating the boundaries of the run. The true approach follows an exposed path along the (climber's) left side of the ridge that forms the (climber's) left bank of this depression, i.e. it's on the other side of the left bank of the ski run from the ski run. I distinctly remember a lot of exposure though so if going only based on my description perhaps stick to skinning the side of the ski run until you reach the glacier.
Once on Argentiere Glacier traverse it via the path of least resistance (i.e. least likely to have crevasses).
Most climbs like Grand Blue and friends are on the far right side of the glacier out of site. There is some more accessible but less spectacular ice above the glacier on its right bank as well. Expect the approach to take 2 hours perhaps.
