Description Suggest change

Big Rock is located on the eastern side of Cherokee park along the middle fork of Beargrass creek between Park Boundary Road and Beargrass Road. Named after a large boulder nestled on the southern bank of the creek, Big Rock hosts a limestone cliff ranging in height from 5 to 25 feet. The rock here is by no means good quality, however, it can be climbed. Whether you like your rock covered in spray paint or creek mud, there's something here for everyone. Honestly, you'd probably be better off just sticking to your local gym unless you're so sick of pulling on plastic that you'll climb rock no matter how dirty or chossy.
All jokes aside, there are some okay boulder problems scattered about, and this area would at least be worth checking out if you're getting bored of the gym and you don't want to drive far. Be safe, choose good landing zones, beware of weak and brittle rock, and be considerate of others- please don't rain choss down on people walking through.

Getting There Suggest change

You can park in several locations, however, there is a small lot near the intersection of Park Boundary Rd. and Valletta; this would be the closest place to park. Walk past a pavilion and along a trail that runs parallel to the creek until you reach the cliff. The highest quality rock is the face directly behind Big Rock (the cube-like boulder in the creek).
