Description Suggest change

S E exposure across the “ Reflection Pool” of the Androscoggin river a few miles east of Gorham NH. The SE exposure makes this a late-season ( Jan-Feb) area for those years when it comes in at all.

Easy to assess ice condition by just just looking from Rt2 East.

Getting There Suggest change

Drive East ( a Right Turn) on Rt 2 from where Rt 16 comes into Gorham from Pinkham Notch, and 3.3 Mi east of Gorham take a left on North Road, and in 1/2 mile you come to the dirt Hogan Road on the left. In winter it seems unlikely you'll be able to drive the road, although skiing may be an option. If the road looks semi-passible, beware of two things: 1) There are usually two large puddles (that may not be frozen solid enough to drive over) in about 1/10 mile in, and 2) The Appalachian Trailhead is 1/4 mile "in" (pull out for 2 -3 cars)  and whatever semblance of "travel-a-bility" might end there.

Follow Hogan road west for about 1 mile to the first significant right hand turn-off which leads to a wide open logged area in about 100 ft. The crags is visible from here so set off through the trees.
