Stuart Draw

Wyoming > Grand Teton NP

Description

The short canyon north of Albright Peak and south of Peak 10,696/25 Short, capped by Buck Mountain. There isn't much climbing in this canyon, but a few old school routes were developed in 1980's on the south side.

Getting There

Park at Death Canyon Trailhead, and approach via the Buck Mountain/Stewarts Draw climber's trail. The trail crosses beneath Albright Peak and veers west into Stuart Draw. The rock climbs on the south side can be spotted from the first and only major stream crossing. A great climber's trail stays south of the creek, but quickly dwindles into forest and scree. From here, line of sight tactics are used to reach the climb, and bushwhacking at times can be frustrating - about 1.5 hours from the car on a steady pace. Pinned location is very approximate.
