Description
This zone is divided into three areas: la Breche, le Devers and les Toits. Also listed as Suare (name of the village) in the guide book, the zone showcases AMAZING vertical to overhanging granite sport climbing. Highly featured rock, including tafoni, is reminiscent of some steep Boulder Canyon routes. While there is a fantastic trail that reaches the la Breche area, the other two areas are much less visited although the routes are outrageous. I just wish I were younger and stronger to be able to do all of them. Hah. Not going to happen. Due to its northern exposure, one can climb here in the summer and during the shoulder seasons. Highly featured bolted granite, physical in nature, demarcate this area.
Getting There
The approach is a steep 30 minute hike. In the fall, don't fail to sample the "strawberry tree" fruit. It's all along the trial. As you approach from Calvi on the D81 take a right on D81 and go 2.6km to a parking area on the left. The trail is obvious. In addition to the fruits along the trail, there is a little and obvious spring on the right that runs after a rain (not sure during the summer). There is currently a wooden sign that demarcates a fork in the trial between the le Breche and the other areas.
