Description
This is the first sector that one reaches when hiking into the Frea zone. Home to approximately a dozen routes from 40 (to the left of the access gash) to 60 feet in length (to the right of the access gash). It is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the road. The routes are a mix of moderate slabs on the right to more challenging and shorter technical faces on the left. All are well bolted.
Getting There
Refer to the Frea directions on how to reach the zone. From a parking spot along the road, and within view of the Frea zone, hike up a scree slope and locate a cairned trail toward the cliff band. This trail takes you to a gash in the rock above. It is fixed with a cable. The first route to the left is called Iris, perhaps the easiest route in this sector. The cable (via ferrata) leads up to the Reckter Pfeiler sector on the right and the Himmelsleiter sector to its left.
