Description
The Shotgun is a long and variable cliff section that runs along the river on the North side of the logging road about a kilometre past the Fortress wall. The main section is upwards of 150m tall, includes several quality multi-pitch routes which are fully bolted and currently holds Ontario’s tallest!
BE AWARE: LOOSE AND SHARP ROCK IS COMMON AT THIS CLIFF!!! CLIMB WITH CAUTION AND MANAGE ROPES WITH ATTENTION WHEN DESCENDING. NEW ROUTE DEVELOPMENT IS ONGOING AND MAY CURRENTLY BE UDERWAY IN ANY OF THESE AREAS. RED TAGS ARE SOMETIMES BUT NOT ALWAYS PRESENT.
Getting There
The mid section and main cathedral wall can be accessed just meters from the roadside where the river diverges from the road. DO NOT PARK ON THE DRIVEWAY TO THE RIGHT WHERE THE RIVER BENDS AT THE ROAD
The most extensive descriptions and directions are are contained in the Kynoch Rock guidebook by Danylo Darewych.
