Description

Located just to the right of the Airation Buttress, the Three Stooges Slab is an end-of-the-day haunt of the legendary John Strand, aka Slabbo, Strandman, Glasswalker, etc. This small area is an independent slab that offers three short low-angle slab routes. The protection is poor (remember, these are Strand routes), and they are best top-roped. If you've read this far, you can already guess the names of the routes.

Getting There

The slab is not always easy to find and is located about 200 feet to the right of the Airation Buttress. Take the zig-zag trail down as you would if you were going to climb Airation, but once you reach the horizontal path that is level with the start of Airation, Heather, etc., head left rather than right. Follow the path until you reach the perfect granite "V" of the 16-foot-high Practice Wall (all bolts have now been chopped thanks to Old School Ken Nichols-type dinosaurs). From the Practice Wall, walk directly to the cliff edge, and access the routes by rapping from sturdy hemlock trees. You will see a roomy, comfortable belay ledge 40 feet down.
