Description
Named after America's favorite TV family, The Squidbillies, The Appalachian Mud Squid Wall offers vertical to slab, west-facing, single pitch climbing with grooved water runnels, horizontals, interesting quartz crystals, and incuts with climbing ranging from 5.7-5.11. A 70m rope is needed to do the routes from the ground or a 60m from the terrace.
Getting There
Keep going south from the Emerald Valley Wall until you get to the Mudsquid Wall Terrace. There is a bolted variation (5.8) up the middle of the terrace that connects nicely to Take This Job and Love It, 5.7. You can also scramble up the right side of the ledge at a move or two of low Class 5 to climb Take This Job and Love It, 5.7. Alternatively you can climb the corner crack at 5.8 on the left side of the terrace which also connects with Appalachian Mud Squid. Any which way, once on top of the ledge, you'll have nice views of the valley and access to the remaining routes.
