Description

Despite its proximity to the resort town of Cortina and the popular Antelao summit, the Marmarole is one of the "wildest" groups in the Dolomites. All of the major summits in this group are 4th class or harder and require alpine experience, approaches are often long (by European standards) and strenuous, and many of the routes have been lost to history.

If you're looking for solitude and unmatched beauty in the western Dolomites, this is one place you will find it.

Getting There

The Marmarole is flanked by the valley of the river Piave to the southeast, the valley of the river Bòite to the southwest, and the valley of the river Ansiei to the east. Common approaches are from the towns of Auronzo, Calalzo, Domegge, Lozzo, Pieve, and San Vito di Cadore.
