Description

An amazing section of slab climbing on slick quartzite rock inside Revelstoke National Park. The view across the valley is spectacular, and the routes are pure friction and balance. A place to approach grades humbly if you're not used to slab climbing. The routes are all well bolted sport climbs and falls are actually quite safe (run down if falling!). You'll be surrounded by beautiful forest on all sides while climbing, and unlikely to have company. Ruedi and Nicoline Beglinger put much effort into retro bolting the routes in 2017, after initially bolting them in the early 90's, and full descriptions can be found in Ruedi's excellent book: Revelstoke Rocks.

Getting There

Drive 21km along Highway1 East from Revelstoke. You'll see a pullout on your left just before a barrier and the road turning to the right then back around left. If you go past it, you can turn around safely ~2km further at Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk. Park on the North side of the highway just past the barriers. Look for a walking trail to the west of the barriers. It's further west than you might think, look carefully for the path heading up the hill. Walk up the path to the boulder field. From there, continue to the top of the boulder field, aiming for the middle through some trees and low vegetation. You'll see a line of bolts heading up the slabby rock apron. This is the start of the climbing routes.
