Description Suggest change

Zoo Station is the cleanest and most obvious wall for climbing in the part of Fremont Canyon that is flooded by Alcova Lake. The wall mostly faces south with a south east arete that rises out of the lake. Several very direct and splitter cracks are established, as well as harder bolted routes and an exposed dihedral on the prow. All the current routes here were established by Kelly Moore.

Getting There Suggest change

Approaching this crag on foot is either a very long walk up the ridge north of Fremont canyon road, or some 4WD roads (and a long walk down the canyon anyway). If you go this way, it's the turn off about a quarter mile up the hill from the Low Voltage parking This "road" is a steep jeep trail right off the pavement, so don't expect to do it in your Subaru. Once at the top of the ridge, pick your way through the maze of 2-tracks heading North East. Eventually you will have to park and head down into the canyon. The less confusing and more sensible (and probably safer) approach requires taking a boat up the canyon from the main Alcova Lake. There is a bolt at water level perfect for helping to secure your water craft as it waits for you to climb the wall.

Descent: There is a bolted chain at the top of "Freedom at Point Zero" (just climbers left of "Beauty and the Beast").  This rap REQUIRES a 70m rope, AND that you lean HARD climbers left as you descend, or you will not reach the ground.
