Long Buttress

California > Sierra Eastside > Lone Pine Area > Horse Shoe Meadows

Description

Situated just above its namesake lake, the Long Buttress is another worthwhile addition to the growing number of crags in the Cottonwood Lakes basin. While the rock quality is not quite as good as the nearby New Army Wall, it should clean up well eventually. That said, I would be surprised if this were to become a destination crag anytime soon, not least because I have yet to add any fixed hardware to the wall - all climbs are currently gear-only, and walkoff is required.

Getting There

Hike up to Long lake (~6 miles). This is a nice spot to camp if you're here for a few days. The crag will be visible through/above the trees to the northeast.
