Description

Hidden high above the Railroad Gully, Cloud Nine adds some solid moderate climbs to the mix at the Bolton Dome.

Getting There

At the top of the Railroad Gully, follow a series of fixed lines on your right until you reach the ledge. This approach can get a bit damp and slippery. A rappel anchor at the left end of the ledge is a preferable descent to the fixed line.

[Hide Comment] Looks like some fun climbing! Was just wondering if any of the routes in the railroad yard be climbed as an alternate "first pitch" instead of the fixed line/if not, is there potential for any new routes to be put up to serve this purpose? May 21, 2022
[Hide Comment] A variation to P.2 on Work Shoes, breaking left after the first 30' or so, could be established as an alternate approach, I'd think. May 21, 2022

[Hide Comment] You could certainly climb the first pitch of Work Shoes. You could also climb other routes left of it on the Railroad Yard (though most have low anchors at the lip that you'd have to climb past). Either way you'd still need to ascend the second fixed line from that upper ledge. I'd call it and "alternate approach" for sure rather than a first pitch.

We'll be cleaning up the approach where those fixed lines are as one of the projects during the Summer Kickoff on June 11th. That will definitely make that approach a bit less grimey. Join us and pitch in if you can! May 21, 2022

[Hide Comment] first fix line gets you to ledge system that connects to the anchor at top of P1/bottom of P2 for Work Shoes Jun 9, 2022

[Hide Comment] Did some scrambling around and you can definitely step left from the top of p1 work shoes/ right from the first fixed line and go up the slab with the blocky headwall at the top. brings you to the right side of the cloud 9 ledge. Might clean it up, and if anyone with more route development experience wants to toss some bolts in it could be a fun way to link work shoes with cloud 9. Similarly, the easy slab above and to the right of the Cloud 9 wall brings you right to margaritaville/p3 work shoes ledge. thoughts? Nov 7, 2022
