Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closures Details

2026 Seasonal Raptor Closure details: fs.usda.gov/sites/nfs/files…

The seasonal closure to protect peregrine falcons is in effect for some crags on the west side of Lake Koocanusa. Closed crags include:

Dihedral Wall
Koocanusa Crags (Hidden Buttress, Great White Wall, Pit Stop, The Ruins, Upper and Lower Grandstand)
Naked Cliff
Science Lab
Sunburst Crags
Dawn Walls
Don Juan

All other westside crags are unaffected by the closure. The closure ends August 31.

Description

Morning sun, roadside, and glacially polished quartzite. Pit Stop Area is within the seasonal falcon closure.

Getting There

Located 6.3 miles south from the bridge on the west side of the lake. Located between mile markers 38 & 39.
Directly off the road is the pit stop area.
