Description Suggest change

Solárium is and impressive 30 meter tall by 270 meter long south facing wall of orange limestone. As of 2021 there were 26 routes with grades ranging from 6a+ to 8a+ and room for more development. The wall is varied, featuring crimps, tufas, vertical face climbing and many medium sized caves and roofs. Despite the slightly higher elevation this is a sun trap making for great winter climbing on clear days.

Getting There Suggest change

From downtown leonidio it is a 45-minute drive and 30-minute approach to the sector.

Drive to the small village of Vaskina and take a left at the church staying on the main dirt road. Keep left at the first fork and right at the second fork until you see a large collections of wooden beehive boxes on your left. Shortly after the hives you will pass through a gate and park a few meters beyond. Be sure to close the gate after driving through.

Hike: from the parking continue down the dirt road for 100m and take a right on a smaller dirt path. 50 m down this you'll see cairns on the left marking the beginning of the footpath. There is not so much a trail and rather a scavenger hunt of 100 plus small rock piles that lead you across the plateau and down the hillside for 30-minutes of exploration before you stumble across two magnificent walls. Sigi will appear on your right as an impressive amphitheater. Continue downhill and south (left) for a couple more minutes to reach solarium.
