Description Suggest change

A bowl at 3100m, the centerpiece being the 300m high waterfall "Shaar", the highest in central Asia. Beyond this there's potential for many new alpine lines to the true left of the fall, and possibly some routes to the right.

The fall runs down the centre of a large slabby granite crag, ice gradient is fairly consistent WI3 with occasional steeper sections, this face surely will feature many fantastic rock routes when climbers get round to it.

Getting There Suggest change

From Naryn, transport to either At Bashi or the village of Bash Kaindy can be easily arranged. A small road leads about 9km from Bash Kaindy to the foot of the trail, this can be driven although it is quite rough. From the end of the road, follow up the valley for around 1 mile, before crossing a bridge over the river and continuing up the large trail to the end of the valley.
