Access Issue: NO DRONES ON NATIONAL PARKLANDS
Details
All of the crags within the New River Gorge proper are on national parklands, and drone use is prohibited here. There has been some discussion about places to launch drones that are not on park property, and then flying them over the gorge. This is super poor form; don't do it. Park regulations prohibit all drone use over the boundaries without a permit.
Description
Small area with a short approach across the river from Cotton Top and Cotton Bottom. Great place to climb if you want to try a bunch of high-quality problems in a short time.
Getting There
If you are coming downhill on WV-16 towards Cotton Top/Bottom you will see a short bridge that crosses the New River. Park on the shoulder right before you cross the bridge in the widest part.
From the shoulder jump over the guard rail and start walking down towards the river until you see a small uphill on your right. Go up this path for about 2 minutes until you can see a metal shack on the opposite side of the train tracks (this will be obscured if the train is passing by!) There should be a steep but worn path down to the tracks when you're about 30 yards away from the shack, and once you cross the tracks you should find another steep but worn trail that heads down towards the river. This takes you into a small boulder field which is very easy to navigate.
