Access Issue: Endangered Species Details

Please stay on the trails and stay out of closed areas on the ground and on the cliff

Most of the 14-acre property at Hanging Mountain has been designated as Priority Habitat by MassWildlife’s Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Program (NHESP). As a result, Hanging Mountain and any work performed there is heavily regulated to ensure that the WMCC is in compliance with the Massachusetts Endangered Species Act and Wetlands Protection Act.

Description

A great cliff to warm up on, Progressive has a few fun moderates on interesting stone with cool holds. Please do not top out this cliff because the area above is closed due to loose rock.

Getting There

From parking lot, follow main trail to the Y and bear left following the sign toward "Cloud Buttress". The Cloud Buttress will be the first cliff you come to. Follow the stairs to the right, walk past the Acorn Buttress and follow the trail around the curve. The beautifully terraced cliff you will arrive at is the Progressive Buttress.
