Please do not litter and observe all regulations. We had to fight to regain access at one time, and we don't want to lose the privilege again. Local ethics and refuge regulations are that no bolting is permitted unless expressly authorized by the park. Leave the hammer and nails at home, no fixed gear please. Everything will go clean.

Description

Ignorance Boulder is one of the first boulders you will see heading up to the highballs and other walls.

The three climbs face north and east.

Grape Juice Shots is a VB with good moves and great holds. Pull as hard as you want on the jugs to get warmed up for climbs later in the day.

Ignorance is a V0 that starts as a layback out from the wall on an undercling. Work around the mini diving board features up the left corner. A little more muscular and thoughtful than GJS.

More Ignorance stand starts on a left hand Undercling jug and a right hand bomber sidepull and runs up the flat face to the left of GJS and Ignorance. This problem requires some Tech but lots of pulling power, so for you meatheads who like to crank, this should make you happy. I won’t spoil the beta but this is a nice one to earn.

More Ignorance and the whole boulder name comes from a speech Warren Harding gave one of his terrified new partners in Yosemite. When the new guy asked something like “I’m terrified! I think I might die! How did you do this?!?” Harding thundered from above, “Ignorance!!!” and when the scared follower got to a new tough spot he yelled down “More Ignorance!!!”.

Getting There

Park at Rush Lake loop and head down into the damn creek gully first following human trails and on the far side follow deer trials through the sumac heading south and east. If you arrive at Backrow Baptists which is a tall slab with a hand crack on the left you passed Ignorance boulder and need to go directly west (not downhill at all).
