Description Suggest change

A truly hidden canyon on the east side of Burge Mtn, located less than a 5 minute walk from the Burge North parking at FS road #048! This small forested hanging valley is rimmed by mostly 15-50' tall (steep and often mossy) cliffs with a couple of seasonal ponds in the bottom. The main crag is the larger southern SW facing cliff ("Deadhead Wall") which ranges from 40-70' tall and has excellent rock.

Getting There Suggest change

From the Burge North parking area cross the road and head south a couple of hundred yards on the well used cattle trail along the fence line. Follow the trail down into the canyon and skirt the ponds to the main crag at the south end of the hanging valley.

The fastest/easiest way to the top of the Deadhead Wall and Garden Wall crags is to park a little further up the Burge Mtn Rd (#3235), about 150 yards past the cattle guard right after the main parking at the FS Rd #048 turn-off. From the first pullout after the cattle guard head cross-country through the forest to the southwest for less than a 5 minute walk.
